Junction Park Primary School

Junction Park State School is situated in Annerley, Brisbane.  It is a school with an enrolment of close to 400 students. As a community, we are very proud of our school.

At Junction Park State School, students in Prep to Year 7 participate in a classroom music programme run by our specialist music teacher. In years 3-7 students are able to be a member of the school choir and participate in the strings programme. In years 5-7, there is the opportunity for students to be involved in our concert band programme.

Students in our choir, orchestra and band play regularly at school events including our weekly parades, information nights, our school fete, Harmony Day, Music at the Junction, Junction Park has Talent, Music Awards Night and Christmas Carol Night. Last year we were able to successfully integrate students' musical and artistic talents to create a very special Fiesta of Puppetry.

The school participates in a number of musical and community events- including music camp for both beginners and more advanced players, Instrumental Fanfare, Choral Fest and Music Fest. At the 2009 Strings Music Fest, our string orchestra received a gold award. Our choir often sings at a local nursing home and this is always very well received by the residents.

We first became involved in the Queensland Symphony Orchestra partnership in 2009. We value the workshops that that we have been able to access through this partnership and look forward to our continuing relationship.
